2003 Ford Rally Coupe ZX* - $800

* OK, for $800 you don't actually get a car. But you do get all the body trim, springs, 17" wheels and other tchotchkes necessary to make your 2001-2006 Focus ZX look like a rally car.

With the leftovers you can fix that tire and suspension problem.

Well, we don't have Craigslist per se, so I used the national classified ads (there's only 2 million of us, so it's kinda like a local Craigslist. :D)
10k $ cashes out at 7,35k EUR according to my bank. Let's see...
#1
Coming in at, as near as it makes no difference, 9000 smackers:
Audi S3 1.8 T Quattro with 280HP
. NEW: turbo, headers, discs+pads all round, water pump, belts, pulleys, tensioners, clutch plate, valves, teflons(?), NEW ENGINE (now at 130k km), Viseco pistons, large intercooler, chipp'd, toyo tires, completely newly painted. Huhh. Okay.
#2
Second most expensive worth mentioning, at a smidge under 7900 greenbacks, the
Renault Megane 2.0 16v Renault Sport 225.
Horsepower this time around is an obvious (and lower) 225, however it tips the scales at 1345 kg kerb. Claimed to be riding on complete Megane F1 Team r26 suspension (possibly also brakes, phrasing is awkward). It does look like it has the F1Tr26 wheels, at least. Does all this mean it has the Cup Chassis? No idea. Still a fairly sweet vehicle - would hoon.
#WILDCARD
It may not even break the 6300 US Mint mark, but you might as well keep the rest for repairing this Citroen XM Berline 3.0i V6 Exclusive Auto . In any case, it's a hatch. It rocks nearly 200HP from the dreaded PRV, so let's call it hot-ish. It's claimed to have overhauled hydraulics and slushbox and only 152k km. Those oily-looking stains on the driveway best be from some other car, though...
#VERDICT
Harsh call, I say. If only the XM wasn't an auto. It looks gorgeous, but then I'm in love with '80s Bertone. And from certain angles, with certain amounts of filth, fat tyres and a small spoiler, it looks positively mental:
I'd have mine in one of those brown metallics Bertone used to dress up their concepts in. Cue Volvo Tundra (itself used as the Citroen BX basis):
